Ultra rare high performance L-78 in a plain brown wrapper. Only 21,100 actual miles. This is an original paint survivor with it's "born with" motor, trans and rear. It's a California car, the black plate is the original registered to this car. Documented with original build sheet. It was also given the prestigious Freeze Frame award which is only given to the most outstanding unrestored original cars over 30 years old. The judges sheets are included. It was an award winner at the MCACN show. Featured in multiple magazines including Muscle Car Review (twice), Nova times, Muscle Car Classics, Super Chevy and a book Chevrolet Yesterday and Today. It has NCRS shipping report. It has vintage pictures and owner history too.
EXTERIOR: Very impressive all original uncut body. It is laser straight on both sides, smooth along the bottoms. All the panels fit square and flush, everything closes like new. The paint is mostly all original and it still shows really well. The Burnished Brown paint works really well on a sleeper like this. The chrome and trim on the car is in excellent shape. The grills, bumpers, emblems, even the stainless moldings are straight and shiny. The jambs are clean. The weatherstrips are still original. The glass is very clear. It has correct T-3 headlights. The poverty rims have excellent caps. Reproduction Wide Oval redline tires.
INTERIOR: Completely original from carpet to the headliner. It is in excellent shape. Rare bucket seat- console option, these are usually bench seat. The seats still have good cushions, the upholstery is excellent. The seat trim, headrests and seat backs are really nice. It has complete set of original GM seat belts, they are mint. It has rubber Chevy floor mats. In front of me is a pristine dash area. The dash pad, heater control panel, speedometer, lenses, radio are excellent. The steering wheel is not worn it all, it does have one crack. The lighter doesn't look like it's been used, glove box is mint. It does have some vintage Stewart Warner gauges below the dash. The door panels and armrests are excellent. Headliner, visors and mirror are mint.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Certified original vin # matching motor. The headers are the same ones that were installed when the car was only a year old. One motor mount and the water pump were replaced. Other than that it's all supposed to be original. The L-78 396-375 hp motor is legendary. It used rectangle port heads, aluminum intake, solid lifters, high compression pistons etc. It has original deep groove pulleys so the belts won't fly off at high RPMs. Original Holley carb. Original valve covers with the spot weld dimples, original air cleaner. The engine bay has all of it's original finishes. Original radiator with ZE code. It features power steering and power brakes. The squirters are still hooked up. The plug wires are dated. It has spring clamp battery cables and a Delco battery topper.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Not only is it pristine original metal but it has all of it's original spatter paint from the factory too. The paint in the jambs and under the trunk lid are original too. The trunk mat, weatherstrip and decals are original. Even the red line tire and the jack assembly are original.
UNDERSIDE: Pristine, virgin metal. No pits, no patches. The braces, rockers and even the lower inner quarters are clean original. It hasn't even been spray painted over. There are still factory paint markings and tags. The front end is original and in good shape. All 4 shocks have been replaced. The calipers are still the originals. It has disc in front, the e-brake assembly is hooked up. Bottom of the motor is clean. The original Turbo 400 auto was rebuilt. It has it's original 12 bolt 3.55 posi rear. The exhaust is a custom Pypes system. It's stainless with transverse muffler.
This is the ultimate sleeper. Grandma's grocery getter in a drab color with poverty wheels. Nobody would suspect a 375 hp motor is under the hood! There aren't too many Chevelle, Camaro or Nova L-78s in existence that are this original! This is investment grade Muscle car.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

About Volo Auto Museum
No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum. Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960. We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos. For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion. Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.
Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful. We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after. Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift. No reasonable request will be turned down.
Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you. We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else’s. Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner. This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own. We invest approximately 00 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn’t sell, we lose, not you. So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
